The Department of Psychiatry of the VU University Medical Center (VUMC) and GGZ inGeest collaborately conduct research, education and academic patient care. The main focus is on depression and anxiety disorders, two common psychiatric disorders with high public health impact. Psychiatric research is embedded in two VU research institutes: EMGO+ and Neuroscience Campus Amsterdam. In this research area more than 150 persons from different disciplines (e.g. psychiatry, psychology, health science) collaborate.

2 PhD-students and 1 Post-doc

Job description
The PhD-students will participate in the recent VICI project of Prof. Penninx investigating metabolic stress and biological aging processes in depression, for with available observational data will be used and a randomized treatment trial involving exercise and antidepressant medication will be started.
The post-doc will participate in and help to further extend the biological psychiatry research line of the department. This line aims to achieve a better understanding of the biological, genetic and neurophysiological mechanisms underlying depression and anxiety disorders. For this purpose, existing data infrastructures are available that include detailed data on genes and gene-expression, biomarkers and (functional) neuroimaging data. The postdoc will actively participate in supervision of PhD-students, analyses and manuscript writing. 
 
Requirements
PhD-student: University Graduate (e.g. health sciences, medicine, movement sciences, psychology) with affinity in psychiatric epidemiological research. You have excellent analytical and statistical experience (e.g. through use of programs such as R, SPSS, SAS) and good qualities in scientific writing.
Post-doc: You received your PhD in the biological or medical field, have affinity and experience with biological psychiatry (e.g. biomarker, genetic or imaging research), and have excellent analytical and statistical skills. You have proven to be successful in oral and written communications, and are capable of building your own research line within the biological psychiatry field.

Salary
PhD-students: Temporarily appointment for 4 years, resulting in a dissertation. The gross monthly salary coming with a full-time appointment will amount to € 2.230,- in the first year to €2.652,- in the fourth year: FWG 55-0 CAO GGZ (P-scale of the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities; CAO-NU).
Post-doc: Temporarily appointment for 2 years, which could be extended when functioning. Depending on training and work experience the gross monthly salary coming with a full-time appointment will amount to a maximum of € 4.035,- : FWG 60 CAO GGZ  (scale 10, CAO-NU).
