Erasmus Mundus Masters Degree

Europe FlagThe Erasmus Mundus Master Course (EMMC) Neurasmus is part of the European Neuroscience Campus network.

Neurasmus is a 2 year (120 ECT) full-time Neuroscience study program taught in English, with a strong emphasis on training in cutting-edge techniques in all major topics of brain research, from molecules to cognition. Its main objective is to foster Neuroscience education and to train new brain scientists, by offering a unique interdisciplinary and integrated approach of normal brain function and of brain diseases. Students become qualified to formulate appropriate questions and propose and apply effective investigations to complex Neuroscience issues, to work in team effort as well as autonomously, to interpret and communicate results effectively and to find applications in order to reach to clinical, pharmaceutical and biotechnological targets.

Four main study tracks with sub-specializations are offered and reflect the strengths of the consortium institutions:

  • Neurogenetics and Neural Plasticity
  • Molecular and Cellular Neurobiology
  • Neurophysiology
  • Medical Neurosciences

LOGO Erasmus MundusDuring year 1, students follow a common core curriculum that provides a common basis of main subject areas for all and also receive first specialization in a field of interest. The program consists of advanced seminars, tutorials, practical work and lab rotations. Advanced specialization modules are taken between September and December during year 2. Students also carry out a 6 month research/industrial project within their study track and submit it as a thesis (30 ECTS). During the two years of the Master, every student will have to go through at least two host institutions of the consortium and all students together will attend joint advanced workshops and meetings.

Upon successful completion of the program, students are awarded joint or multiple/double degrees, from each of the main institutes they study at, with a diploma supplement that describes their study track and the overall study program.
